2024 Nursing Facility Life Safety Boot Camp, June 5-6

Managing all of the various requirements of the Life Safety Code and Health Care Facilities Code is an intricate process. That is why Kenneth Daily, LNHA, Life Safety expert, has created this program that will provide you and your team with the information and resources you need to manage your facility’s life safety program. This course ensures you have the necessary information and resources to successfully manage programs as standards change.

 

 

 

 The learning objectives of this workshop include: 

  • Identify significant differences between the 2000 and 2012 Life Safety and Health Care Facility Codes.
  • Review expectations regarding the ITM of required systems such as sprinklers, fire panel, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, doors, etc.
  • Discuss LSC requirements for nursing homes including current surveyor priorities.
  • Examine LSC priorities including issues related to culture change and the environment.
  • Discuss the leading LSC deficiencies.
  • Recommend policies, standards and/or guidelines for immediate review and facility implementation.

Trainer: Kenneth M. Daily is the President of Elder Care Systems Group, a long-term health care consulting firm specializing in quality operations consulting, life safety compliance, and emergency preparedness planning and implementation. 

In 2004, Mr. Daily learned first-hand the critical importance of the LSC and Emergency Preparedness when a facility he operated suffered a significant fire event. No resident or staff member was injured, but the facility sustained millions in damages taking more than a year to complete the reconstruction. Empowered by this experience, Kenn set to learn and share with health care professionals the importance of compliance with the NFPA's LIfe Safety Code to ensure the safest building for those we serve. 

Mr. Daily is a recognized expert in the life safety and emergency preparedness and has a wealth of experiences in long term care. Kenneth is a member of the Ohio Health Care Association Board of Trustees and chairman of the OHCA's Life Safety and Disaster Management Committee. He is a member of the AHCA's the Life Safety and Emergency Preparedness Committee and a member of the NFPA's Healthcare Section Executive Committee. 

Kenneth is a frequent speaker and has lectured nationwide on ways to improve the service and integrity of long-term health care. He is an author an contributing editor of numerous articles and professional guides. A frequent engaging speaker having lectured nationwide at professional conferences, trainings and other sponsored events sharing insights on long term care operations, quality, survey, disaster management and life safety code as well as authoring and editing numerous articles and professional manuals.

Continuing Education

The Kentucky Association of Health Care Facilities is an approved provider of continuing education by the Kentucky Board of Nursing, #5-0002. To receive the 11 contact hours, you must complete the entire program. Certificates may be printed once the program evaluation is submitted. Cancellation Policy

Cancellations received seven (7) workdays prior to the seminar date will receive a full refund. Cancellations received inside of seven (7) workdays will receive one-half refund. Participants who do not attend will not receive a refund unless prior written notice is given to the KAHCF office. All cancellations must be made in writing and may be emailed to [email protected]  Phone cancellations will not be accepted.

PAYMENT AND COLLECTION POLICY

Members shall pay for conventions or seminars in advance. Full payment must be received seven (7) days prior to seminar or convention. All registrations received without payment will be invoiced at time registration is received.  If membership dues or any invoices are 90 days in arrears, registration fee for seminar or convention will be charged at the non-member rate unless payment is made in full seven (7) days prior to seminar or convention.
