1. Understand the three domains of the 5-Star Rating System.
2. Understand how each component is calculated and the impact on the overall 5-Star Rating
3. Describe April 2019 revisions to the 5-Star Rating System.
4. Acquire knowledge to implement best practices for Five-Star improvement
Course Content
- 30 minutes Overview of the 5 Star-Rating System & recent revisions
- 20 minutes Calculating Health Inspection, Staffing, & Quality Measure Ratings
- 20 minutes Analyzing 5 star data & developing plans to achieve 5-Star status
- 5 minutes Closing Comments/ Q&A

Shelly Maffia, MSN, MBA, RN, LNHA, QCP
Director
of Regulatory Services for Proactive Medical Review & Consulting,
with over 15 years of leadership and consulting experience, Shelly has
held positions as DON, NHA, Corporate Nurse Consultant, and Training
Positions. Currently Shelly provides consultation on regulatory
compliance to nursing facilities in multiple states. Her expertise
includes developing clinical training tools, policies, procedures,
protocols and training programs on systems, processes and best
practices. Shelly is also a QAPI Certified Professional (QCP) through
the American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordinators.

Continuing Education
The
Kentucky Association of Health Care Facilities is an approved provider
of continuing education by the Kentucky Board of Nursing, #5-0002. To
receive the 1.15 contact hours, you must complete the entire program.
Certificates may be printed once the program evaluation is submitted. Disclaimer

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be made in writing and emailed to [email protected] or faxed to 502-425-3431. Cancellations
by phone will not be accepted. Cancellations received no later than
March 11 will receive a full refund. Cancellations received between March 11 to March 17 will receive a refund of 1/2. Registrants who
do not attend or who do not complete the full seminar will not receive a
refund unless prior written notice is given to the KAHCF office.
