Methods of Instruction Nurse Aide Training August 10-11

This train-the-trainer course will we held in-person. The course will help prepare eligible nurses to become instructors for the Medicaid nurse aide training program. It will provide classroom and demonstration experiences to assist the nurse in becoming a better teacher of nurse aides. The course will cover philosophy, course preparation, learning styles of students, areas of knowledge, performance and training techniques, use of lesson plans, instructional methods, and use of instructional aids. There will also be an in-depth discussion of how to use the nurse aide curriculum developed by the Kentucky Department for Medicaid Services. Nurse aide training must be performed by or under the general supervision of a registered nurse who has a minimum of 2 years of experience, at least one of which is in the provision of long term care services. Directors of Nurse Aide Training should attend this training

 

 

Successful completion of the course will enable nurses to:

  • Organize a nurse aide course 
  • Identify styles and modify teaching plans to accommodate individual learning needs
  • Develop lesson plans
  • Utilize instructional aides
  • Demonstrate teaching a manipulation skill 
  • Organize and manage a nurse aide training lab/classroom 
  • Evaluate student performance

Robert Flatt is the Nursing Home Administrator for Essex Nursing and Rehabilitation Center here in Louisville. He is a Registered Nurse and teaches classes for the Community College and is serving on the Board of Long Term Care Health Care Administrators.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Cancellation received in writing no later than seven (7) workdays prior to a seminar will receive a full refund. Cancellations received in writing inside of seven (7) workdays will receive one-half refund. Any participants who don't attend a program will receive no refund unless prior notice in writing is given to the association office as outlined in this policy. Participants may appeal refund determinations by requesting reconsideration by the Executive Committee. Such appeals must be made in writing within 30 days after the seminar or convention is held.
