This session will address ways long term care facilities can apply the six elements of trauma informed systems to their services and service delivery during the current coronavirus pandemic. The session will start with a review of the conceptual framework of trauma and traumatic stress responses, followed by a clear description of and understand how trauma exposure elicits a brain and body response. Then participants will explore ways to apply six elements of trauma-informed systems – Safety; Trustworthiness and Transparency; Peer Support, Collaboration & Mutuality; Empowerment, Voice and Choice; Cultural, Historical and Gender Issues – to Long Term Care settings.

Kentucky Association of Health Care Facilities is an approved provider
of continuing education by the Kentucky Board of Nursing, #5-0002. To
receive the 1.15 contact hours, you must complete the entire program.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be made in writing and emailed to [email protected] or faxed to 502-425-3431. Cancellations
by phone will not be accepted. Cancellations received no later than July 31 will receive a full refund. Cancellations received between August 1 to August 10 will receive a refund of 1/2. Registrants who
do not attend or who do not complete the full seminar will not receive a
refund unless prior written notice is given to the KAHCF office.
