Nursing, Nutritional, & NTA Services (MDS Sections H, J, K, M, and O) This 1.25-hour webinar will review services reported in MDS sections H, J, K, M, and O that impact the Nursing, SLP, and NTA components under PDPM. RAI coding requirements will be emphasized with focus on ARD scheduling considerations and ongoing monitoring of conditions and services that may warrant completion of the Interim Payment Assessment (IPA).

Learning Objectives

1. Review services provided that may impact the Nursing, SLP, or NTA components under PDPM

2. Understand RAI coding requirements and look-back periods for specific items to promote optimal ARD selection and supportive documentation

3. Develop systems for ongoing monitoring and reporting of changes in condition and/or services that may warrant IPA completion

Course Content

40 minutes Review specific MDS items in Sections H, J, K, M, and O and which PDPM component(s) they may impact with focus on RAI coding requirements and supportive documentation

15 minutes Review case studies of missed coding or supportive documentation opportunities with PDPM per diem impact

15 minutes Develop systems for continued monitoring of resident conditions and considerations for Interim Payment Assessment completion

5 minutes Closing comments/Q&A

Eleisha Wilkes, RN, RAC-CT, Clinical Consultant

Eleisha Wilkes is a Registered Nurse and AANAC certified MDS consultant with over fifteen years of experience in long term care. She has served as a Director of Nursing, Case Manager and Resident Assessment Coordinator with extensive responsibility and success in driving QA in the areas of person-centered assessment and care planning through effective systems, staff development, and interdisciplinary team collaboration. Eleisha specializes in MDS validation audits, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement compliance, competency-based staff education programs, and works with clients extensively to facilitate SNF/NF survey readiness including Phase 1-3 Requirements of Participation compliance. She has presented extensively on the Patient Driven Payment Model and nursing facility readiness under the new reimbursement system. She now serves as an RN Clinical Consultant with Proactive Medical Review & Consulting, LLC.

Kristen Walden, RN, MSN, RAC-CT, Clinical Consultant

Kristen Walden brings twenty-five years of experience as a corporate clinical and reimbursement nurse, DON, and QA Nurse with expertise in driving nursing compliance, implementing software solutions, MDS/RAC skill development, and systems improvement for Five Star, clinical quality and reimbursement. She specializes in teaching clinical problem solving and advancing quality operations for consistent outcomes.

Continuing Education

The Kentucky Association of Health Care Facilities is an approved provider of continuing education by the Kentucky Board of Nursing, #5-0002.  To receive the 1.25 contact hours, you must complete the entire program. Certificates may be printed once the program evaluation is submitted. Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be made in writing and emailed to [email protected] or faxed to 502-425-3431. Cancellations by phone will not be accepted. Cancellations received no later than February 14 will receive a full refund. Cancellations received between February 14 to February 20  will receive a refund of 1/2. Registrants who do not attend or who do not complete the full seminar will not receive a refund unless prior written notice is given to the KAHCF office.
